SMART Blade Radio

The SMART Blade Radio System (SBRS) from Rockwell Collins provides a flexible, space-efficient radio solution using a modular building-block architecture. Easily scalable across varying sizes of Air Traffic Control AM/FM VHF-UHF requirements, it consists of small form-factor, modular, hot-swappable, TCP/IP-based 10W and 50W RF receiver-transmitters, VoIP modules, smart power distribution and Ethernet switches – integrated into a 19-inch rack mount chassis. Each receiver-transmitter exhibits excellent RF and cosite performance, which can be further enhanced with external tunable cavity filters for highly congested operational conditions.

Each SMART Blade is comprised of individual modules and circuit boards mounted to an open blade chassis/frame. A blade is removed – without powering down the chassis – from its mounting tray with only two captive thumbscrews. Three clearly marked pendant cables allow you to quickly remove the module without any special tools or equipment.
