KC-135 GATM Upgrade

All 419 C/KC-135 aircraft have been successfully modified, enabling them to operate in airspace throughout the world. The U.S. Air Force (USAF) C/KC-135 Global Air Traffic Management (GATM) fleet was the first legacy mobility fleet in the Department of Defense to be GATM certified worldwide. The achievements of the program were recognized when the GATM team received the Colonel Joseph B. Duckworth Annual USAF Instrument Award in 2005, recognizing the team for its achievement in the field of instrument flying.

Case Study: Rockwell Collins demonstrates damage tolerant flight controls and autonomous landing capabilities

DARPA contracted with Rockwell Collins to determine a new approach to autonomously mitigate the effects of physical damage that could potentially occur in an air combat environment.
