ANNAPOLIS, Md. (Aug. 20, 2018) – New York, Susquehanna and Western (NYSW) Railway has selected Rockwell Collins’ ARINC RailwayNetSM service to meet the Positive Train Control (PTC) implementation requirements mandated by the Rail Safety Improvement Act of 2008.

ARINC RailwayNet is a hosted network, messaging and application platform for passenger and freight railroads that creates a common communication infrastructure for PTC solutions, which monitor and control certain train movements to help address rail safety issues, including train-to-train collisions and incursions into work zones.

“Rockwell Collins’ service allows for interoperability between the short line and commuter rails with the Class I railroads to deliver PTC safety benefits with reduced operational deployment risks for smaller lines,” said Kenneth Schreder, vice president, Surface Transportation and Critical Infrastructure Systems for Rockwell Collins. “Through RailwayNet, Rockwell Collins is helping NYSW meet the PTC mandate efficiently, cost effectively and securely.”
