Rockwell Collins named on DiversityInc’s list of 2014 Top 50 Companies for Diversity

Ranked second in Top Ten companies for Veterans and fourth in Top Ten Companies for Diversity Councils

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (May 5, 2014) – Rockwell Collins has been named to The 2014 DiversityInc Top 50 (DITop50) Companies for Diversity list, ranking No. 40. As one of two aerospace and defense companies that achieved the DITop50 list, the company was also ranked No. 2 in Top Ten Companies for Veterans and No. 4 in Top Ten Companies for Diversity Councils.

The rankings are determined by an objective methodology that calculates factors such as talent pipeline, equitable talent development (including commitments to mentorship and philanthropy), CEO/leadership commitment, and supplier diversity. The empirical data for the rankings is provided by a 300-question survey filled out by the participating companies. Survey participation is free to any company with at least 1,000 U.S. workers.

“The future of our company, especially as we expand across the globe, depends heavily on being inclusive and welcoming of ideas from a wide variety of backgrounds,” said Rod Dooley, vice president, Diversity and Integrated Talent Management for Rockwell Collins. “We’ve learned firsthand—from pioneering GPS to developing avionics for the most sophisticated aircraft in the world—that diversity spawns innovation.”

“Earning a spot on the DITop50 proves that management is paying close attention to the needs of their primary constituents—employees, customers and other key stakeholders,” said DiversityInc founder and CEO, Luke Visconti. “Companies with great reputations attract the best and most skilled employees who then create and deliver the best products and services. It’s a virtuous cycle that enables public companies on the DiversityInc Top50 list to consistently outperform the major domestic stock market indices and privately held companies to surpass their peers.”

More than a thousand public and privately held companies competed for spots on the coveted list. The full list can be found at
