TCN-550 TACAN Beacon System

Please view part numbers below under the "Typical System" tab.

Overview

The TCN-550 from Rockwell Collins is the replacement Tactical Airborne Navigation (TACAN) for the ARN-139 airborne TACAN beacon system. It is the latest technology airborne Receiver/Transmitter (R/T) component of our TACAN system family.

Just like its ARN-139 predecessor, the TCN-550 functions as a standard TACAN system. It measures slant-range distance and relative bearing to a selected ground station or an airborne TACAN beacon, while computing velocity and time-to-go to that station. TCN-550 also provides rendezvous capability with an air-to-air bearing transmit function (beacon mode).

The TCN-550 has been successfully installed in tanker aircraft for both the U.S. military services and for other militaries around the world.
