AN/ARN-149V Low Frequency Automatic Direction Finder (LF/ADF)

Please view part numbers below under the "Typical System" tab.

Overview

Here’s the first Low Frequency Automatic Direction Finder (LF/ADF) to provide an internal, field upgradeable MIL-STD-1553B digital multiplex bus capability – the Rockwell Collins AN/ARN-149(V). The system gives your military aircraft around the world the ability to navigate in austere locations where a commercial AM broadcast signal is the only available navigation aid.

The AN/ARN-149(V) featues a solid-state receiver and integrated antenna/preamplifier to significantly reduce size and weight. When you compare it to legacy systems with moving parts, expensive sense panels, couplers and special prefabricated cable assemblies, you’ll find the AN/ARN-149(V) increases reliability and simplifies installation. A dual version of the antenna is available in one aerodynamic package. The receiver is controlled by a four-wire serial bus from the control, available with a 28- or 5-volt light panel and optional Night Vision Goggle compatibility.
