GMS-4100 Global In-flight Message Server
Overview
Add email and web browsing capabilities to your flights with the Global In-flight Message Server (GMS) from Rockwell Collins. The GMS-4100 provides a local Wireless Access Point (WAP) in your aircraft cabins, permitting Wi-Fi capable personal devices to access conventional Internet Protocol (IP) based services for the purpose of sending and receiving emails and mobile web browsing via a single, inexpensive Iridium channel. The GMS-4100 provides internal router functions and a HTTP server to permit access of up to 10 user devices, offering a truly wireless system for your aircraft cabin. Wi-Fi capable user devices, such as BlackBerry® smartphones and iPhone® mobile digital devices, are automatically assigned an IP address by the server to provide immediate access to the system without user intervention or set-up beyond what is required with any Wi-Fi network.
