Rockwell Collins was selected to develop, produce, and support a Service Life Extension Program (SLEP) for the fleet of T-34C
flight trainers now in service at NAS Pensacola, Fla., NAS Whiting Field, Fla., and NAS Corpus Christi, Texas. The multi-year
delivery order was executed under the Navy Training System 2000 omnibus contract.
The program entailed the design and complete refurbishment of the existing training device, 2B37A/B, and included new instrumentation,
a digital communications and aural system, digital-electric flight control loading and an innovative digital-electric 3 degree-of-freedom
motion cueing system. The refurbished training system is identified as device 2B37C.
Rockwell Collins also works closely with the Naval Air Test Center and Patuxent River, Md., to conduct a comprehensive flight
test and data collection activity for the T-34 aircraft. The validated flight test data is used to produce updates to the
aerodynamic and engine simulation functions. Rockwell Collins employs its advanced Automated Fidelity Test technologies to
verify the simulator performance and fidelity.
