Rockwell Collins was selected by the U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command (ACC) to provide Contract Aircrew Training and Courseware
Development (CAT/CWD) services for the F-4 Formal Training Unit (FTU) at Holloman Air Force Base, N.M.
The primary objective of the FTU is to produce fully qualified F-4 pilots, weapon system officers (WSOs), instructor pilots
(IPs), and instructor WSOs (IWSOs) for the German Air Force (GAF) and the U.S. Air Force (USAF).
The Rockwell Collins team performs academic classroom instruction, simulator training and develops all the courseware to support
the required training program. The Rockwell Collins team consists of a Site Manager (SM), a section of instructors/Subject
Matter Experts (SMEs) and a section of courseware developers. The SM oversees the efforts of the entire team, conducts long
range planning, schedules resources and serves as the primary point of contact with the government. The aircrew training tasks
are managed by the lead instructor, and the courseware development tasks are managed by the instructional developer.
