The BOWMAN program provides the next generation tactical communications system for the British Army. The program includes
a full range of tactical secure voice/data radios and intercom equipment, computers, a tactical internet and system management
software. Rockwell Collins was selected by the system prime contractor, General Dynamics (U.K) Ltd, to provide all the embedded
and vehicle-mounted military Navstar Global Positioning System (GPS) equipment for the program.
Our third generation Miniature Precision Lightweight GPS Receiver Engine (MPE-S) and the Precision Lightweight GPS Receiver
(PLGR)-III (Appliqué) provide the primary location information for all users of BOWMAN equipment, enabling forces to make
informed decisions with an enhanced level of situational awareness. The units offer high-performance position, velocity and
time (PVT) in a jamming environment. They include fast acquisition and area navigation functions and all incorporate the
Selective Availability Anti-Spoofing Module (SAASM) for advanced security. At the end of March 2006, Rockwell Collins had
delivered more than 35,000 receivers for the program.
