FlexNet™ Rockwell Collins and Thales have signed a strategic agreement for the joint development and pursuit of international programs
for tactical ground vehicular communications. Already partners in major programs for next generation military communications,
Rockwell Collins and Thales are combining their expertise to provide military users with innovative and tailored solutions
through a new product line, the FlexNet.
The FlexNet family of radios will pave the way for solutions enabling interoperability for joint and coalition forces. FlexNet
radios include the FlexNet-One compact high capacity single-channel radio and the FlexNet-Four versatile multi-channel radio.
Both radios are capable of supporting the FlexNet-Waveform for high data rate ad-hoc networked communications among a set
of other waveforms, such as Combat Net Radio waveforms and the PR4G and PR4G F@stnet and multimedia services. Based on an open and secure architecture and compliant with the Software Communication Architecture
(SCA), the FlexNet radios will accommodate future technology insertions or capability upgrades. With these new high data rate
and networking capabilities, the FlexNet solution increases the level of information which can be exchanged between users,
introduces new possibilities of cooperative combat engagement between different units and supports the mobility required by
armed forces.
Tactical Data Radio System (TDRS) TDRS supports the Swedish Armed Forces' initiative to develop a mobile network-based defense. It is the first international
program that uses the FlexNet-Four radio and FlexNet-Waveform.
Waveform Development System (WDS) The FlexNet-Four radio is combined with PrismTech's Spectra Software Defined Radio (SDR) development products to assist international
customers and SDR users in efficient development of SCA compliant waveforms. Users can develop their own or convert legacy
waveforms directly on the target hardware. The waveforms can then be verified in a field test environment.
The Spectra product suite is tightly integrated with the FlexNet Four SDR and provides:
-SCA Waveform and platform modeling -Complete SCA code generation -Waveform component library management -Reverse engineering of existing SCA-based waveforms -Integrated build and deployment environment -Automated SCA test generation and framework
Please contact Rockwell Collins for more information on International SDR.
