Rockwell Collins is supporting flight testing of the P-3 Orion aircraft for an updated navigation, communication, flight management and display system that meets the U.S. Navy's functional requirements for communication, navigation, surveillance and air traffic management (CNS/ATM). The upgraded system incorporates the CDU-7000, which provides both civil and military flight management systems and enables the P-3 to fly in civil airspace. In addition, the multi-function display system and inertial navigation system were also upgraded. The P-3 will be the first U.S. Navy aircraft certified to CNS/ATM functional requirements.
