Rockwell Collins was selected by Northrop Grumman to provide avionics upgrades to the U.S. military's E-8C Joint Surveillance
Target Attack Radar System (Joint STARS) aircraft. The E-8C Joint STARS is a joint U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force airborne battle
management, command and control platform intended to locate, classify and track moving and stationary targets. Designed to
meet Communications, Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) requirements, the upgrade provides an open
systems architecture, active matrix liquid crystal displays, V/UHF radios, data link communications, GNLU-955M multi-mode receivers and the integration of secure Global Positioning System
(GPS) receivers.
Rockwell Collins is also providing its new Flight Information Management System (FIMS) implementing Electronic Flight Bag
(EFB) technologies. This system will provide the pilots with maintenance data recorder functionality, moving maps and electronic
charts and enable growth to real-time graphical weather, live video feeds via data link, as well as aircraft management applications.
Please contact Rockwell Collins for more information.
