A look into the future of potential weather hazards
Predictive OverFlight™ Protection warns pilots of clear-air turbulence associated with thunderstorms that ar growing into
the aircraft flight path.
Developing thunderstorms can exhibit tremendous growth rates, rising as rapidly as 6,000 feet per minute into the aircraft
flight path. With other radar systems, it is up to the flight crew to identify these cells and plan their flight path accordingly.
These developing cells may not be depicted on the radar display and often have an area of associated intense, clear-air turbulence
above the cells.
MultiScan's Predictive OverFlight™ Protection feature can analyze a cell's growth rate and make predictions on whether the
storm, or the clear-air turbulence "bubble" above the cell, will reach the aircraft flight level. Using this information,
it then displays those cells that present a developing turbulence or weather hazard.
