Problem: The customer wanted to conduct a proof of concept demonstration to validate the use of Electronic Flight Bags (EFB) combined with Tactical Datalink solutions with minimal impact to the existing systems.

The solution: OpenEdge

Application services: OpenEdge is utilized to integrate the Tactical Datalink information in an operating environment that also supports Electronic Flight Bag Applications such as JeppCharts, Forms for checklists.

Presentation services: OpenEdge provides overlays on FalconView. In addition, a framework is provided for free text messaging and seamless integration with EFB applications.

Data link services: OpenEdge interfaces with HF Messenger for secure email transfers.

Processing: OpenEdge is hosted on a side mount display product – FIMS from Rockwell Collins.
