Air China selects Rockwell Collins to provide avionics on 20 new aircraft
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (September 17, 2003) -
Rockwell Collins has been selected by Air China to provide avionics equipment for 20 new Airbus A319 aircraft. The agreement
also calls for an option of 10 additional aircraft.
Among the products selected by Air China is the Collins GLU-920 Multi-Mode Receiver (MMR), an integrated navigation and landing
unit that provides the aircraft's primary position, velocity and time reference, and enables precision landing capability.
Also selected was the Collins WXR-2100 MultiScan weather radar. The MultiScan radar optimizes short- and long-range weather
detection at all times without requiring pilot adjustment of the radar tilt control, and alerts flight crews during takeoff
and approach of potentially dangerous wind shear.
Other Collins equipment chosen by Air China includes ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-900 Distance Measuring Equipment,
HFS-900D High Frequency System, CPL-920D Coupling Unit, LRA-900 Low-range Radio Altimeter, TPR-901 Transponder, VOR-900 VHF
Omnidirectional Radio, VHF-920 Very High Frequency Transceiver and SAT-2000 Aero-I Satellite Communications system.
