Rockwell Collins successfully completes TTNT Critical Design Review

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (January 14, 2009) - Rockwell Collins has successfully completed a Critical Design Review (CDR) with representatives of U.S. military services for its Tactical Targeting Network Technology (TTNT), a high-speed Internet Protocol-based network that will connect military platforms at the tactical edge.

"This milestone is a major step toward supporting the nation's goals of achieving next-generation, network centric warfare capabilities," said Bruce King, vice president and general manager of Surface Solutions for Rockwell Collins. "The government reviewers were especially pleased to see the high level of maturity in the system's design."

The TTNT CDR provided the U.S. military with a thorough review of the detailed design of the TTNT waveform. The review covered the waveform design and analysis details, subsystem configuration and performance, and overall integration, quality assurance and test planning for the TTNT waveform.

The Rockwell Collins TTNT design features state-of-the art mobile, high-speed, ad hoc technology that will deliver simultaneous voice, data and video services, as well as the ability to increase capacity and networking features. TTNT also provides a high-throughput, low-latency solution for safety of flight and other applications requiring real-time information.

TTNT is the most mature advanced tactical data link providing an airborne networking capability for warfighters that has been proven and demonstrated through more than 1,000 flight hours on over a dozen airborne and ground platforms such as the F-16, F-22, F-15, T-39, F/A-18, B-2, B-52, Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS), Battlefield Airborne Communications Node (BACN) and E-2C Hawkeye.
