Rockwell Collins HGS® receives EASA/FAA Cat III certification on Dassault Falcon 2000EX

Orlando, Fla. (October 05, 2008) - Dassault Aviation has received the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) and the Federal Aviation Administration's Category III certification on the Rockwell Collins HGS®-4860 Head Up Guidance System for the Dassault Falcon 2000EX. The aircraft now joins the other members of the Falcon 900 and 2000 family as the only Category III qualified fleet in this corporate market segment.

"Rockwell Collins is thrilled to have met this important milestone with our HGS-4860," said David Austin, senior director, Head Up Guidance Systems for Rockwell Collins. "This certification maximizes the benefits of our HGS, including enhanced situational awareness and improved operational efficiency by allowing pilots to fly in lower visibility conditions."

Rockwell Collins' HGS provides enhanced situational awareness and energy management in all flight conditions. The presentation of all primary flight data in the pilot's forward field of view eliminates transitions from head-down to head-up flying. Using the displayed flight path and acceleration information, the pilot is enabled to fly very accurate approaches to a precise landing in all conditions, even in turbulence, crosswinds and on black hole approaches.

The Rockwell Collins HGS relies on a patented, high-integrity computer architecture that collects and evaluates critical flight data, such as attitude, airspeed, altitude and the ILS inputs to compute guidance-to-touchdown information that can permit full Category III landing operations (50 ft DH, 600 ft RVR). The non-Category III HGS-4860 was previously certified for use in both the Falcon 2000EX and the Falcon 900EX. The Falcon 900EX was upgraded to Category III status three years ago.
