US Airways selects Rockwell Collins avionics for Airbus fleet
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (June 25, 2008) - US Airways has selected Rockwell Collins to provide its MultiScan Hazard Detection System and other avionics for the airline's
Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft.
"US Airways now becomes one of more than 100 other airlines experiencing the benefits of this leading technology," said Jeff
Standerski, vice president and general manager of Air Transport Systems for Rockwell Collins. "This contract is one more example
of how our customers trust Rockwell Collins to deliver best value solutions that make flights more efficient and comfortable
for their passengers."
Rockwell Collins' award-winning WXR-2100 MultiScan Hazard Detection System is the first and only radar that analyzes and determines
actual weather hazards, not simply atmospheric moisture content. MultiScan is a fully automatic, hands-free airborne radar
system with more than four years of operational experience that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and passenger comfort
by minimizing unexpected turbulence encounters, and provides optimal clutter-free weather detection from the nose of the aircraft
to 320 nautical miles.
Other Rockwell Collins equipment chosen by US Airways includes the DME-900 Distance Measuring Equipment, HFS-900D High Frequency
System, and the VOR-900 VHF Omnidirectional Radio.
