Rockwell Collins' HGS-4200 selected for Eurowing's fleet of CRJ700s
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (October 29, 2007) - Eurowing has selected Rockwell Collins' HGS-4200 Head-Up Guidance System (HGS®) for its fleet of CRJ700s, equipping the aircraft with the only Cat III solution for CRJs. Deliveries began in September
2007.
Rockwell Collins' HGS expands the operational capability of the CRJ700 by reducing the airplane's approved approach minima
from Cat II to Cat III, thereby reducing the decision height from 100 ft to 50 ft. and the Runway Visual Range (RVR) from
550M to 200M. Additionally, the HGS Low Visibility Takeoff (LVTO) capability reduces the minimum RVR required for takeoff
from 125M to 75M.
The HGS-4200 displays critical flight information in the pilot's forward field of view. Aircraft flight path and acceleration
symbols and command guidance appear overlaying the outside scene allowing precision hand-flown approaches, enhancing situational
awareness and improving aircraft energy management. Additional features include the display of runway remaining, unusual attitude
recovery symbology and an angle of attack indicator.
