Rockwell Collins further advances avionics with Pro Line Fusion
- Next generation solution introduces innovative cockpit technologies
ATLANTA (September 24, 2007) - Rockwell Collins has unveiled its next generation of avionics for the business jet market with the introduction of Pro Line
Fusion™, a new avionics solution that combines the success of Pro Line 21 with key technological advancements. The announcement
was made today at the National Business Aviation Association's (NBAA) 60th Annual Meeting and Convention in Atlanta.
Pro Line Fusion, which provides an integrated flight deck to ensure interoperability between systems, will debut on the Bombardier
Global™ family. Pro Line Fusion will feature high resolution 15-inch diagonal LCD displays working in concert with Head-Up
Guidance Systems (HGS™), graphical flight planning, synthetic and enhanced vision and Rockwell Collins' award-winning MultiScan™
Hazard Detection system. Voice recognition technology will be a future capability of the system.
"Pro Line Fusion is a true example of Rockwell Collins' mission to innovate with a purpose. By uniting new capabilities with
the best of Pro Line 21, we've created a system that will deliver unprecedented levels of flight deck capability and operational
efficiency to our customers," said Denny Helgeson, vice president and general manager of business and regional systems for
Rockwell Collins. "We look forward to revolutionizing the airspace with the introduction of Pro Line Fusion."
Rockwell Collins' Pro Line Fusion solution provides an empowering human interface and extensive situational awareness, while
offering information enabled capabilities and flexible, adaptable integration. Key features include:
Intuitive Control and Information Management Pro Line Fusion's 15-inch displays are the largest high resolution displays available in the industry. The advanced human
machine interface allows for high speed display interfaces that facilitate point-and-click access to flight planning, aircraft
performance monitoring and hazard avoidance. The cursor control panel helps reduce pilot workload while increasing flight
deck operational efficiency.
Synthetic-Enhanced Vision With Synthetic-Enhanced Vision on the head-down displays, Pro Line Fusion operators are equipped for situational awareness
in low visibility conditions and unfamiliar territory. Synthetic-Enhanced Vision technology integrates synthetically generated
scenes with real-time enhanced vision imagery allowing flight crews to operate with improved situational awareness and safety.
Head-Up Guidance Pro Line Fusion incorporates Rockwell Collins' Head-Up Guidance System, which provides advanced active-matrix liquid crystal
display technology and presents critical flight information in the pilot's forward field of view. Aircraft flight path, attitude
symbols, and a wire frame presentation of synthetic vision overlay the outside scene enhancing situational awareness, improving
energy management, and increasing touchdown precision. Coupled with an advanced enhanced vision system and under specified
conditions, the system enables descent down to 100 feet above ground level, thereby enhancing operational flexibility.
MultiScan™ Weather Radar The MultiScan weather radar system offers an innovative approach to detecting, analyzing and displaying weather hazards from
the nose of the aircraft up to 320 nautical miles ahead. The system offers flight crews hands-free, fully automatic operation
allowing the flight crew to concentrate on weather avoidance rather than weather depiction and interpretation. MultiScan's
patented automatic
Geographic Weather Correlation and Predictive Overflight Protection further enhance hazard detection capabilities enabling
the pilot to fly over, instead of around, weather.
Traffic Surveillance System The Traffic Surveillance system provides the foundation for advanced ADS-B functions. It integrates the TCAS II, transponder,
and traffic computer functions into a single unit which reduces size, weight, power consumption, and antenna count.
Information Management System Integral to Pro Line Fusion are information management capabilities that include a comprehensive aircraft maintenance system,
aircraft database management capabilities, wireless connectivity, and access to aircraft manuals and documents on the main
displays which are all seamlessly integrated.
Growth Capabilities Pro Line Fusion is designed to accommodate technologies for current and future airspace requirements such as Controller Pilot
Data Link Communications (CPDLC), Required Navigation Performance (RNP) navigation and self-separation.
Pro Line Fusion is scaleable from single pilot to ultra-long range aircraft.
