Rockwell Collins receives DoD outstanding performance award
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (February 20, 2007) - Rockwell Collins is the recipient of the 2006 U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Components Performance Based Logistics (PBL)
Award for its work on the display systems for the F/A-18 and F-14D aircraft.
The DoD Components PBL Award recognizes government/industry teams that have demonstrated outstanding achievements in providing
warfighters with exceptional operational capability. PBL is a DoD strategy to improve weapon system readiness by purchasing
weapon system sustainment as an integrated package based on output measures.
"This award validates our leadership position in component PBL programs," said Ken Peterman, vice president and general manager
of Display Systems at Rockwell Collins. "We look forward to continuing to deliver this high level of program performance for
the DoD."
Rockwell Collins was among eight finalists for the DoD Components PBL Award. In 2003, the company signed a 15-year PBL contract
valued at $360 million. The Rockwell Collins Cockpit Displays includes the Heads Up Display, the Digital Data Indicator and
the Digital Data Repeater Indicator. The PBL provides improved readiness, resulting in an estimated cost avoidance of $71
million.
