Rockwell Collins avionics, cabin systems selected by Buraq Air

FARNBOROUGH (July 17, 2006) - Buraq Air, a private airline headquartered in Tripoli, Libya, has selected a full suite of Rockwell Collins avionics, as well as its Programmable Audio Video Entertainment System (PAVES®) and the Airshow 4200 moving map information system for two new Boeing 737NG aircraft. The agreement also calls for an option on four additional aircraft with deliveries scheduled for August 2006 through December 2009.

Rockwell Collins' WXR-2100 MultiScan™ Weather Radar is among the 16 avionics components selected by the airline. The WXR-2100 MultiScan Weather Radar is fully automatic radar that reduces pilot workload and enhances safety and passenger comfort by reducing unexpected turbulence encounters. MultiScan provides optimal weather detection from the nose of the aircraft to 320 nautical miles.

Other Rockwell Collins avionics selected by Buraq Air includes: the VHF-2100 Very High Frequency Transceiver, VOR-900 VHF Omnidirectional Range/Marker Beacon receiver, ADF-900 Automatic Direction Finder, DME-900 Distance Measuring Equipment, CPL-920D Coupling Unit, DFA-900 Direction Finding Antenna, TRE-920 Directional Antenna, GLU-925 GPS Landing Unit, LRA-900 Low-Range Radio Altimeter, TPR-900 Transponder, TTR-921 TCAS II Receiver/Transmitter, HFS-900D Data Radio , CMU-900 Communications Management Unit, APM-900 Aircraft Personality Module and the PAU-700 Passenger Address Unit.

The PAVES system selected by Buraq Air provides passengers overhead video on 10.4 inch retractable liquid crystal displays featuring wide viewing angles and crisp, bright picture quality. PAVES enables airlines to provide passengers a variety of entertainment options that utilize available flying time.

Rockwell Collins Airshow 4200 offers a full-featured multimedia platform, incorporating a wide variety of capabilities, including 3-D route maps, real-time news feeds, connecting gate information, and points-of-interest media libraries. It captures real-time flight information from the aircraft's flight management computer, long-range navigation system, and aircraft communication systems.  The Airshow 4200 can use the on-board ACARS connection to retrieve current airport terminal information.
