Rockwell Collins Selected for Hellenic Air Force C-130 Upgrade
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (June 26, 2001) - Rockwell Collins has been selected by SPAR Aerospace Ltd., headquartered in Toronto, Canada, to provide the avionics equipment
for the Hellenic C-130 modernization program. The award has a value in excess of US$25 million and the Greek Air Force fleet
of C-130s will be upgraded over the next three years.
Robert Chiusano, executive vice president and chief operating officer, Government Systems said, "The selection of Rockwell
Collins’ system reinforces our position as a global industry leader in aircraft avionics solutions."
Major elements of the upgrade program include the flight management system, displays, autopilot, weather radar, TCAS (Traffic
Alert Collision Avoidance System) and radio communications/navigation equipment. Installation of these components on the C-130s will create a highly integrated flight management system with a glass cockpit for improved situational awareness, reduced
crew workload and enhanced safety features.
