Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics Signs Head-Up Display Contract for U.S. Air Force C-130 Avionics Modernization Program; Contract for Rockwell Collins avionics package valued at more than $400 million over life of program

PORTLAND, Ore. (February 25, 2002) - Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics has signed a contract with The Boeing Company to develop dual Head-Up Display (HUD) systems for the United States Air Force C-130 Avionics Modernization Program (AMP). Boeing was selected by the USAF as the prime contractor to upgrade the avionics systems for more than 500 C-130 aircraft.

The initial $11 million contract is for development and delivery of the first 16 HUD shipsets, with first delivery scheduled for October 2003. Flight tests are scheduled to continue through 2006 with full-scale production planned through 2013. The potential contract value for the dual HUD systems is in excess of $100 million.

"This contract showcases the strength of our continued growth in the government and military market segment, which represents 45 percent of Rockwell Collins' total business," said Bob Chiusano, executive vice president and COO of Government Systems, Rockwell Collins. "Not only do we have a long history of collaboration with Boeing and US Air Force, we also were selected because of our strength in display technology, which will add significant value to the C-130 aircraft."

The HUD is part of a more than $400 million avionics package awarded to Rockwell Collins. Also included is Collins' Flight2 6 x 8-inch Multi-Function Displays and AN/ARC-210 radios, SAT-2000, multimode receivers, automatic direction finder and high frequency data link upgrades. Together these products will further augment and enhance the aircraft operational capabilities, providing the interactivity required for the future Global Air Traffic Management environment.

Offering common solutions to many defense programs, Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics is also providing head-up displays for the USAF C-130J and US Navy Boeing C-40. These HUD displays are night vision goggle compatible and include features to support mission specific requirements similar to multiple video sensors and enhanced or synthetic vision functions.

Rockwell Collins Flight Dynamics is the world leader in head-up display systems for airline, business and military transport aircraft. The company's patented head-up displays are certified and operating on 23 different aircraft types, providing improved all-weather operations and increased margins of operating safety.
