Cessna Selects Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 For New Citation CJ3
ORLANDO (September 10, 2002) - Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 has been selected for the advanced flight deck of the new Cessna Citation CJ3. The announcement
was made today at the National Business Aviation Association conference and exhibition.
"Rockwell Collins Pro Line 21 avionics system offers the advanced functionality operators need to meet changing operational
requirements," said Russ Meyer III, Citation CJ3 program manager. "The capabilities of this Pro Line 21 system are well-suited
to a business jet like the CJ3."
The integrated Collins Pro Line 21 avionics system processes all the information a Citation CJ3 pilot needs - attitude, heading,
altitude, airspeed, engine data, navigation maps, weather radar and TCAS surveillance. This information is displayed on the
Citation CJ3 flight deck's 10 x 8-inch high-resolution, liquid crystal Adaptive Flight Displays. Bezel-mounted menu selectors
allow easy access to display formats adapted for each phase of flight.
The Citation CJ3 will also be the launch aircraft for Rockwell Collins' new onboard file server unit. The new Collins File
Server Unit (FSU) integrates with the Pro Line 21 system's high-performance partitioned processing capabilities, Ethernet
interfaces and active matrix liquid crystal display (AMLCD) flight displays bringing enhanced maps, optional electronic charts
and graphical weather to the flight deck of this new aircraft.
"The Pro Line 21 avionics system was designed to meet the challenges of changing operational and regulatory requirements,"
said Denny Helgeson, vice president and general manager, Rockwell Collins Business and Regional Systems. "Cessna's decision
to equip the CJ3 with a digital file server unit will provide operators with access to enhanced operational information in
a timely, convenient presentation."
Additional features:
- Collins Pro Line 21 CNS communication, navigation and surveillance sensors support the transition from voice to data communications
and enable operators to meet new regulatory and operating requirements.
- Collins FMS-3000 Flight Management System offers operational flexibility and enhanced situational awareness through capabilities
such as multiple waypoint vertical navigation; time/fuel planning and predictions; databased Standard Instrument Departures
(SIDs), Standard Terminal Arrival Routes (STARs) and approaches; and an optional FMS performance database enabling automatic
calculation of Vspeeds, weight limits and runway length requirements, based on the aicraft's flight manual parameters.
- The Collins AHS-3000 Attitude Heading Reference System, featuring a digital quartz sensor, significantly improves reliability
while reducing volume, weight, power consumption and cost of ownership.
- The Collins WXR-800 solid-state weather radar, with optional turbulence detection provides weather detection in a 300 nautical
miles range. The system is designed to provide enhanced situational awareness while reducing pilot workload.
- The solid-state Collins ADS-3000 Air Data System improves reliability while reducing volume, weight and installation complexity.
- Dual-channel Automatic Flight Control System.
Cessna has targeted the first Citation CJ3 customer delivery for late 2004.
In addition to the CJ3, Collins Pro Line 21 avionics systems are featured in the flight decks of the Cessna CJ1 and CJ2.
