Rockwell Collins Elects New Board Member
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (September 12, 2002) - Rockwell Collins' Board of Directors has elected Dr. Cheryl L. Shavers to serve on its board. She becomes the eighth member
of the Board of Directors and will fill a position that is subject to reelection at the company's annual shareowners meeting
in February 2003.
Dr. Shavers is currently the chairman and chief executive officer of Global Smarts, Inc, Santa Clara, Calif., a content development
company specializing in the creation, development and production of content across multiple platforms. She also serves as
non-executive chairman of BitArts Ltd., a software production firm focused on Internet security and encryption products, based
in the U.K. Previously, she served as under secretary of commerce for technology for the United States Department of Commerce.
In her more than 25-year career she has held positions of increasing responsibility with a number of high-tech Fortune 500
companies including Hewlett-Packard, Motorola, Varian Associates and Intel.

Dr. Shavers joins current board members Donald R. Beall, former chairman and chief executive officer of Rockwell International
Corp.; Clayton M. Jones, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Rockwell Collins, Inc.; Joseph F. Toot, Jr., retired
president and chief executive officer of The Timken Co.; Anthony J. Carbone, vice-chairman of the board of directors and a
senior consultant of The Dow Chemical Co.; Richard J. Ferris, former co-chairman of Doubletree Corp.; General Michael P.C.
Carns, USAF, Ret., vice chairman of PrivaSource Inc; and Chris A. Davis, chairman and chief executive officer of McLeodUSA
Incorporated.
