EADS and Rockwell Collins Agree on Competitive Partnership
Amsterdam, the Netherlands / Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA (January 07, 2003) - EADS and Rockwell Collins have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for avionics solutions sourcing. This agreement
is part of the global sourcing strategy that has been launched across EADS.
This MoU paves the way for enhanced performances in the relationship between Rockwell Collins as a supplier and EADS as a
customer, to better meet end-market requirements. The resulting improvements are cornerstones for the implementation of a
"Competitive Partnership" between EADS and Rockwell Collins in the avionics solution sourcing area.
The EADS Sourcing Strategy aims to build a long term relationship with suppliers that are willing to develop sustained, excellent
performances to better meet the markets needs. Tuned to the particular end markets needs, it applies to every Business Unit
of EADS. It facilitates the implementation of a deepened, privileged relationship between EADS and its best suppliers, called
"Competitive Partnership."
EADS' sourcing strategy comprises major aspects such as supplier evaluation and proactive development of performances and
business along procurement policy targets and principles.
"Rockwell Collins has a long history of successful business across many segments of EADS. This relationship delivers the message
that performance is now considered a major discriminator and we certainly accept the challenge to perform," said Bob Chiusano,
executive vice president and chief operating officer, Rockwell Collins Commercial Systems. "Rockwell Collins is well-positioned
to achieve the level of 'Competitive Partnership' with EADS. In turn, Rockwell Collins performance as a competitive partner
with EADS will lead to even more and expanded strategic opportunities downstream."
"Our global sourcing strategy aims to encourage long-term cooperation between EADS business units and their best-in-class
suppliers and create a new type of relationship called 'Competitive Partnership'. The level of performances achieved by Rockwell
Collins and their willingness to continue to develop them position this supplier as one of very best. We are committed to
working out this excellence-and-reward type of approach with a limited number of committed strategic suppliers to enable our
end-customers and shareholders to benefit from best-in-class performances", said Hans-Erich Mundt, Senior Vice President Corporate
Sourcing at EADS.
