Rockwell Collins Awarded Contract for the Universal Soldier Sensor;Technology key to Night Vision Cave and Urban Assault-Advanced
Concept Technology Demonstration
SAN JOSE, Calif. (July 09, 2003) -
Rockwell Collins (NYSE:COL), a leader in advanced military technology, has received a contract from Night Vision and Electronics
Sensor Directorate, Ft. Belvoir for the Universal Soldier Sensor (USS). The USS will be a core dismounted sensor system in
the Night Vision Cave and Urban Assault- Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration (NVCA-ACTD).
Kaiser Electronics, a Rockwell Collins business, will design, develop and integrate the Universal Soldier Sensor and UCIR
Probe. This program will provide soldiers with a multipurpose thermal imaging capability that is small, lightweight and low
power.
USS is a modular system comprised of a thermal imaging camera and day CCD with remote power, and a helmet mounted display.
The thermal imaging camera and day CCD will be mounted on the helmet, with an additional thermal imaging camera mounted and
boresigheted to the weapon for target acquisition/engagement.
