March for babies - Members of the Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions (STS) team on Dyess Air Force Base near Abilene, Texas, raised nearly $800 in the recent March for Babies walk in support of the March of Dimes. They were joined in the walk by family and friends.

Michelle Alcorn understands the importance of participating in the March for Babies fund-raiser in support of the March of Dimes.

A systems engineer at Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions (STS) on Dyess Air Force Base near Abilene, Texas, Alcorn was born prematurely. But, thanks to surgery funded in part by the March of Dimes, Alcorn is enjoying a healthy life.

"I've been involved with the March of Dimes for quite some time," said Alcorn. "It's a very well-respected charity and I wanted to do something for them."

Committed to raising funds for her favorite charity, Alcorn encouraged 40 of her colleagues to participant in the walk, which was held in late April. Several of the employees' spouses and children also joined in the fun, and helped raise nearly $800.

"I know we have a good group of people here at Dyess so I was hoping for a good turnout," said Alcorn, adding this was the first time employees from this facility participated in the event. "I was really pleased that so many of our employees showed up for the day and put in non-work hours for such a great cause."

Sporting Rockwell Collins T-shirts and braving the Texas heat, our employees walked 3 miles in order to raise awareness for the March of Dimes, the leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and baby health.

The event raised a total of about $150,000, which will support lifesaving research, services, education and advocacy.
