Making important investments

In today’s increasingly competitive global marketplace, businesses are discovering that developing game-winning strategies and creating customer value aren’t enough to ensure continued growth and success.

We live in a world where the accelerated rate of change is requiring companies to adapt faster than ever before and to work harder to attract and retain the talent they need to excel in the future.

At Rockwell Collins, we understand – perhaps now more than ever – that to realize our full potential in this ever-changing world, we must go beyond designing and manufacturing quality avionics. We also must make an investment in our people, in our facilities, and in the communities in which we live and work.

We have without question done a tremendous job over the years of creating and maintaining a visible and active role in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City technology corridor. But the time has come for us to extend beyond the boundaries of Eastern Iowa and to make our presence known in communities around the world.

In this issue of Horizons online , you will hear from employees in Huntsville, Ala., about how the mere location of a new building being constructed there is expected to increase our presence in that particular community and also within our industry.

In addition, you’ll learn about the remarkable growth our company experienced in fiscal year 2007, and how major renovations to existing buildings across our enterprise are generating excitement among our employees.

Together, we have achieved significant success. We have accomplished what would not have been possible without the commitment, dedication and teamwork of 20,000 people around the world.

As we look to the future, I ask that you consider spending more time becoming involved in your community. Think about helping to inspire the next generation of engineers through participation in a local event. Or, take time to assist with the delivery of meals to senior citizens or those less fortunate.

Representing our company in a positive light and building trusted relationships will help all of us realize continued success.
