Manchester employees clean up the environment

Thanks to a team of employees in Manchester, Iowa, the working environment at their facility now is a little cleaner, healthier and safer.

For the third consecutive year, 17 employees from our facility in Manchester joined family and friends for Manchester Pride Day, a time when branches, debris and other litter are removed from our property and the surrounding industrial park. This year, clean-up also took place in a nearby community park.

"No one wants to work in a world full of trash and litter," said Mary Knutson, a senior manufacturing product control specialist who participated in the event. "Each year, the clean-up gets easier because there are fewer bags to pick up."

According to Chris Bockenstedt, environment, safety and health are an integral part of our business. But it's also fun to keep track of the "find of the day." This year, team members located a stolen purse with identification and contents still inside.

"We're not only striving for a cleaner environment," said Bockenstedt, a value stream facilitator in Manchester and event coordinator. "We're solving crimes, too."
