Binghamton Relay for Life Silent Auction a success
Members of the Rockwell Collins Simulation & Training Solutions
(STS) Relay for Life team in Binghamton, N.Y. raised $1,800 during a
recent silent auction that will benefit the American Cancer Society.
Held for the fifth consecutive year, the silent auction featured
wooden bears, carved and donated by STS Senior Simulator Test
Technician Nic Blackwell. Artwork created by a local artist, plants,
stone carvings from an area business, electronic items, and gift
certificates from area restaurants and local sports teams also were
available. In addition, the auction included golf clubs, bicycles,
household items and gift baskets.
"We have great fun and great camaraderie," said Sandy McFarland,
captain of the STS Relay for Life team. "But the most rewarding part
of this event is that we're raising money for the American Cancer
Society."
At the 2006 Relay for Life, the STS team was the number one
individual fund-raising team and the number one corporate
fund-raising team. The group raised $22,000 toward the fight against
cancer.
