OVERVIEW
RTU-292 Radio/Telephone Interface Unit 88.9 mm H X 482.6 mm WX 254 mm D 5.5 kg (3.5 in H X 19 in WX 10 in D 12 lbs)

The RTU-292 Radio/Telephone Interface Unit provides an adjustment-free automatic connection between a radio system and telephone or other two-wire line. The unit is suited for use with HF, VHF, UHF or satellite systems and is applicable to full duplex or half-duplex or simplex modes. The units full-featured telephone set, monitor speaker, and flexible switching allow numerous operating scenarios.

DESCRIPTION

A keypad allows DTMF or dial-pulse signaling the built-in handset is pushbutton-selectable for use with either the telephone or the radio. Since the telephone may place and receive calls, its easy for the operator to establish a phone patch connection.

Once a link is established, the operator may communicate with either party using the RTU-292s handset, or may monitor both sides of the conversation with the speaker.

The auto-dial/auto-answer function enables users to dial into an unmanned radio station equipped with an RTU-292. The user inputs control data via the telephone DTMF keypad which the RTU-292 uses to control the radio equipment. Remote users may use this function to make calls (phone patches) with other radio stations. Also, users may enter data via their telephone DTMF keypad to command a radio station to contact another radio station and to dial a phone number into another telephone system. This function works with HF, HF-ALE, VHF, and UHF radio systems.
