OVERVIEW
The RT-2200 Receiver-Exciter provides conventional reception and transmission
of voice and digital data messages in the 1.6 to 29.99999 MHz frequency range.
The RT-2200 provides embedded ALE per MIL-STD-188-141B and built-in high-speed
HF data modem per MIL-STD-188-110B. The RT-2200 can be used as a receiver,
exciter, or receiver-exciter in single-site or split-site installations.

Section 5 and MIL-STD-188-203A |
Optional Features of the RT-2200 The DSP architecture of the RT-2200 makes it easy to upgrade
the unit with enhanced features. MIL-STD-188-141C Appendix 3G Automatic Link Establish when
the new standard becomes available. The built-in HF data modem has an expandable waveform library
such as the higher data rate waveforms currently in the MDM-Q9604 Modem.
FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION
The RT-2200 uses of a conventional dual-conversion "front end"
that translates transmit and receive signals to/from the 0.35-29.99999 MHz
band to the 455-kHz intermediate frequency. The digital signal processor,
interfacing with the 455-kHz IF, performs all modulation and demodulation
functions, including finite impulse response (FIR) filtering for single-channel
(SSB, AM, CW) and 2-channel (ISB) operations. The DSP provides the modem
waveforms and control interface for single-site or split-site ALE operations.
It also operates as a high-performance HF data modem capable of data rates
from 75 to 19.2K bits per second using waveforms defined in MIL-STD-188-110B.
Appendix C provides for 3200 to 9600 bps and Appendix F provides for ISB
operation up to 19.2K bps. Control of the modem functions is through the
radio control interface. The audio/interface card provides balanced audio
ports for transmit and receive analog voice, the interface for the HF data
modem, and the serial control/monitor interfaces. An internal speaker and front
panel volume control are provided for monitoring receive audio.
PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION
The RT-2200 requires only 133 mm (5.25 inches or three EIA-310 rack
units) when mounted in standard EIA 483-mm (19-inch) rack. An internal blower
draws air through the front panel filter and exhausts it through the rear
panel. The unit may be slide-mounted for ease of access. All cabling to
the unit is by quick disconnect connectors that are positively secured to
prevent accidental disconnection.
CONTROL INTERFACES
The RT-2200 has three serial interfaces for connection to remote control
devices and a front panel interface for an optional control and display panel.
To provide redundancy in large systems, each unit may be connected to two
or three sources of control information. Selectable unit addresses enable
multiple RT-2200s to be controlled by a single control device. The RT-2200
has control interfaces for an associated pre/postselector filter, power amplifiers
(400-W to 4-kW), and antenna matching units (line flattener or antenna coupler).
A built-in wire-line (FSK) modem supports split-site automatic link establishment
operation when used with an external ALE router unit.
PRIME POWER
The RT-2200 will operate from 115 or 230 VAC, 50/60 Hz or from 28-Vdc
providing a high degree of flexibility in prime power selection. The dc port
may be used with a battery back-up source in the event of an ac source interruption.
