Link 16 Capability for multi-service interoperability
Rockwell and BAE Systems have formed a limited liability company to bring the advantages of full Multifunctional Information Distribution systems (MIDS) commonality to a new, low cost Link 16 terminal. This extension of complementary technologies, coupled with proven expertise, has resulted in a flexible open-architecture design - a design that provides the optimum solution for all Link 16 applications.

The unparalleled situational awareness provided by Link 16 is now affordable for fighters, surveillance aircraft, command aircraft, tankers, bombers, ships, and ground applications.

Primary benefits
Ask any operator who's flown with Link 16 on board. The operational advantages provided by at-a-glance portrayal of targets, threats and friendly forces, on an easy-to-understand, relative position display is the dynamic edge every warfighter needs. Dynamic Link 16 capability lifts the fog of war, increasing combat effectiveness while protecting forces from friendly fire.

But the benefits of Link 16 have never been in dispute by those close to this program. What has been in dispute is affordability. The MIDS-LVT terminal meets that challenge.

Designed to meet the affordability requirements of the user
The MIDS-LVT terminal fills the gap between operator needs and budget constraints. Rockwell and BAE Systems have combined their technology and resources to offer the lowest cost/risk program in the market.

Key elements of our MIDS-LVT design include maintaining MIDS open architecture and adhering to commercial standards, IR&D focus for ensured future growth, the avoidance of technical obsolescence and the implementation of production improvements to lower costs.
