The JAS-39 Head Up Display Camera (HUDC) combines outstanding performance with exceptional capability in a small package. The Rockwell Collins designed HUDC is a color/monochrome video camera that uses ruggedized Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) components packaged for use in the military fighter jet environment. The HUDC is unique because its COTS architecture design can easily be tailored to meet specific aircraft HUDC interface and optical performance requirements.

Rockwell Collins has successfully tailored this design for other tactical aircraft applications including the F-15 and -18. The cameras have been delivered with either digital or analog interfaces.

The Color Camera System (CCS) being provided for use with the JAS-39 HUD is a small, light weight, color camera with electronics that are currently used for a variety of applications throughout the commercial world. The camera is designed to operate with both RS170A and NTSC standards and employs a 1/3" CCD solid state sensor with 768X494 picture elements to ensure a high resolution image. The high resolution camera is to a highly, dependable, low-cost solution that exceeds our customer’s requirements and expectations.
