The Rockwell Collins High Stability Time Base-2000
(HSTB-2000) is designed for systems that require a very accurate time source
over extended periods of time.
Based on a rubidium time standard, the HSTB-2000 provides a clock accuracy
of +/-5 ms over a year. The ability to synchronize to a GPS time source ensures
that a fleet of HSTB-2000 units can readily synchronize to the same source
anywhere a GPS signal can be received.
Specifically designed to work with the Rockwell Collins SubNet Relay
Node Controller (SNC-20XX) module, the HSTB-2000 can also be used in many
other applications.
KEY FEATURES
The key features of the HSTB-2000 are: Rubidium based time source providing accuracy within 5 ms
over a year; Time output is a 1 pulse per second GPS NMEA sentence. As
the format of the NMEA sentence is provided, any application can use the HSTB-2000
as a time source; Synchronization to GPS satellite signal ensures fleet wide
time source accuracy; Internal UPS battery backup protects critical time source
from power failure and allows the unit to be taken where a GPS satellite signal
can be received for GPS synchronization; Control panel and LCD display provided for seamless control
of HSTB-2000 functionality and unit status; and Low power consumption (-15W) during normal operation
Additional HSTB Features
Additional features of the HSTB-2000 are:
Provision of NMEA sentence format allows the HSTB-2000 to
be ussed as a time source for any number of applications. HSTB-2000 provides error bound based on unit temperature over
time and information on rubidium clock drift each time the unit is synchronized.
Therefore, the unit becomes more accurate each time the unit is synchronized.
The error bound is constantly displayed on the LCD status display as shown
in the example below. Users can enter in leap seconds, view the maximum and minimum
temperature of the unit since power up and several other status items. If the GPS cable is connected to the unit, GPS time synchronization
can be continuous, switching over to the internal rubidium clock only when
GPS signals are lost. Rubidium time sources become more accurate as they age. Example HSTB Main Status Display

range. To maintain the +/- 5 ms accuracy over a year, the unit must stay within
about +/- 8 degrees centigrade of the temperature when calibrated (i.e. 20
- 36.5 degrees celcius) Equipment descriptions and specifications
