Building on our long tradition of world class RF
products, the High Speed Modem (HSM) is the latest generation HF/VHF/UHF RF
modem from Rockwell Collins and is three products in one: the highest performance
HF/VHF/UHF modem currently available in narrowband RF channels up to 25 kHz,
a world class HF Channel Simulator, and remote radio interoperability unit
bridging HF/VHF/UHF radio networks for voice or synchronous data.
KEY FEATURES A world-class HF/VHF/UHF modem with over 13 major waveform
standards, advanced GUI signal displays, built-in text chat, and top user
data rates of: A real-time, NATO validated, 2-channel,
HF Channel Simulator. A unit that interconnects base stations and remote transceivers
for both audio and synchronous data via an Intranet/Internet. The same unit
can be used to provide voice interoperability between two different radio
networks. Many standard asynchronous, synchronouse, and Ethernet interfaces. Remote controllable across standard IP network. Available on Rockwell Collins 19" 1U full rack (2000
MKII) or 8.5" 1U half rack (2050 MKII) chassis.

HSM-2000 & HSM-2050 ELEMENTS HF/VHF/UHF Modem Waveforms - 96 kbps
Software defined high data rate HF, VHF, and UHF modem intended for
use in both military and commercial applications. It supports most major HF
standards with rates up to 9.6 kbps skywave/16 kbps surface wave in 3kHz (SSB)
and 19.2kbps skywave/32 kbps surface wave in 6 kHz (ISB). ISB operation and
HF Diversity are standard. In V/UHF user data rates in a single 25 kHz channel
go up to 96 kbps (coded) with the autobaud capable waveform. This modem supports
Ethernet, synchronous serial, and asynchronous serial data interfaces.
Waveforms Included: VUHF 25K VW - 16 to 96 kbps (coded) using 25 kHz channel VUHF 20K BW - 2.4 to 76.8 kbps (coded) using 21.6 kHz
channel VUHF 12K5 BW - 2.4 to 48 kbps (coded) using 12.5 kHz
channel VUHF 8K33 BW - 2.4 to 32 kbps (coded) using 8.33kHz
channel VHDR - Very High Data Rate HF Waveform up to 16 kbps

between modems/radio pairs to determine SNR, available bandwidth, radio ALC
and AGC effects and distortion from non-linear effects as shown in Figure
1; Internal/External Loopback provides install test at unit or
system level; Remote Control GUI via Ethernet; Load/Save Multiple User Configurations easily; Comes standard with a Data and Control Software Development
Kit (SDK) to allow application developers to interface their products to the
modem using socket connections. HF Channel Simulator
Real-time Multi-Channel lonospheric Channel Simulator simulates the
effect of an HF channel.
The HF channel simulator implements an enhanced Watterson HF channel
model, providing both traditional Additive White Gaussian Noise (AWGN) and
CCIR Recommendation 322 noise. It can simulate up to 2 channels, each having
up to 5 delay taps. Each delay tap can be set between 0-26ms.
Furthermore, for each delay tap the doppler spread can be set between 0.1-100Hz.
AUDIO/SYNCH SERIAL RI UNIT
The Audio/Synch Serial Remoting/Interoperability (RI) Unit allows users
to connect remote base stations and transceivers through an Intranet or the
Internet for real-time audio (Figure 1) or encrypted synchronous serial data
(Figure 2). In the synchronous serial data remoting case, the functionality
of a modem has, in essence, been split into two components as shown in Figure
3.

Click to Enlarge Features: On the receive side, each HSM can connect up to 2 SSB radios.
Each radio can be addressed using the IP address of the HSM and a port. Each
base station can connect to only one radio at a time (for both Tx and Rx directions)
or can connect to two radios simultaneously on in the Tx direction and one
in the Rx direction (audio only). To change which remote HSM a base station HSM is connected,
the base station need only change the IP address using its control GUI. SPECIFICATIONS Functional Interfaces
