HFDG-300
High Frequency Data Gateway

OVERVIEW
High Frequency Data Gateway HFDG-300

The HFDG-300 enables global data communication and messaging using high frequency (HF) radio as its communication medium. The HFDG-300 is a transportable unit designed for quick and easy installation. The mobile system includes a ruggedized Panasonic Toughbook series laptop computer, a Rockwell Collins Q9604 data modem, and Rockwell Collins HF Messenger™ software.

HF Messenger™ a "STANAG 5066: Profile for HF Data Communications" compliant software application certified by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC). HF Messenger™ operates on the HFDG-300 laptop with the Microsoft® Windows XP operating system.

Together the HFDG-300 and HF Messenger™ enable worldwide connectivity between HF networks and ground-based TCP/IP networks.

DESCRIPTION

Connected to an HF radio and antenna, the HFDG-300 provides a complete HF radio data node or gateway. The HFDG-300 system brings error-free data transfer of e-mail messages using addressing schemes similar to the internet. Any commercial mail client, such as Microsoft® Outlook, Eudora, etc. may be used to send information such as tasking orders, logistics, weather maps, pictures, or any other data typical of e-mail messages. The compressed file transfer protocol (CFTP) and priority compressed file transfer protocol (PCFTP) are used for ultra-efficient message packaging for HF transfer. Using the power of TCP/IP networks, HFDG-300 nodes can effectively achieve global connectivity. This is accomplished by connecting an HFDG-300 station to a local-area network (LAN) as a stand-alone node, or as a data gateway between HF and TCP/IP networks.
