Display System
Spot Beam

Overview
Spot Beam is a reach back, smart pull, video dissemination and situational awareness display system that empowers deployed users with autonomous abilities to request, receive and exploit in near real-time, specific segments of manned or unmanned video sensors. Spot Beam eliminates the need to monitor streaming video, and is the application of the sports "instant replay" paradigm to video exploitation.

Spot Beam consists of a Windows PC-based client/server software package that provides a video processing/dissemination/storage/retrieval and display capability for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV). The Spot Beam software package includes FalconView plug-in client software (EagleView) that provides a situational awareness display for remote operators. Spot Beam allows video metadata to be easily downlinked or remoted. For on-going sorties the continuous real-time location of the EO/IR sensor, and the video sensor field of view are presented on the users map display. The user selects video segments of interest, and commands the remote video server (Spot Beam) to retrieve and disseminate the segments to him (reach back, smart pull) using much less bandwidth than would be required by streaming the entire video in real time. The segments are displayed on the users PC within minutes of collection. The user has access to segments or single frames of video. Multiple users can annotate related video frames and collaborate for improved intelligence.

Features

  • Map-based view of sensor location and real time sensor field of view
  • Specific segments of near real-time sensor video on-demand
  • Minimum bandwidth video dissemination
  • Real-time perspective of video sensor field of view
  • Digital archive of entire sortie video
  • Real time collaboration between two or more sortie operators

BENEFITS
  • Immediate identification and location of areas of video sensor collection (FalconView plug-in client)
  • Dynamic target situation awareness
  • Near-real-time access to actionable video intelligence
  • Eliminates need to continuously monitor streaming video
  • Rapid search and retrieval of specific video segments can establish historical Pattern of Life
  • Improved effectiveness of video and more complete situation awareness
