The CU-2041 is a 1-kW automatic HF antenna coupler for the 1.6 to 30
MHz frequency range. It is capable of matching the impedance characteristics
of a wide range of non-resonant antennas to the 50-ohm impedance required
by the power amplifier.
DESCRIPTION
The antenna coupler is a tuned impedance matching network used in both
the transmitting and the receiving paths of an associated HF radio. By matching
the antenna impedance, antenna system efficiency is optimized for both transmit
and receive. It also permits receive signals to bypass the tuned network
for simplex operation widely separated transmit and receive frequencies.
This weatherproof coupler utilizes digital tuning with switched reactive
elements in the tuning network. The antenna feedpoint impedance analyzed
by the controlling microprocessor. The network tuning elements are switched
into the proper configuration for an impedance match. This tuning method permits
rapid and accurate antenna matching.
The CU-2041 is a member of the URG-III product line of HF communications
equipment. It is designed to be mounted at the base of the antenna. It receives
dc operating power and control signals directly from its associated 400 watt
or 1000 watt power amplifier. Alternatively, it can be powered directly from
a 115/230 VAC single-phase source.
