OVERVIEW
Building upon the proven performance of the CDU-800 and CDU-900, the
CDU-7000 is the latest addition to Rockwell Collins’ CDU
product family. The CDU-7000 incorporates the latest commercial technologies
into a military-hardened-package to achieve an unparalleled blend of performance
and reliability. The CDU-7000 consolidates control of communications, navigation,
weapons and defensive aids. The unit is especially well suited to address
commercial CNS/ATM and military GATM requirements. Based on Rockwell Collins’ Flight2™
open architecture, the CDU-7000 features a high-quality color active-matrix
liquid crystal display (AMLCD), Power PC processor, and 3U Compact PCI compatible
circuit cards. The CDU-7000 conforms to Collins’ Flight2™
open architecture principles and complies with numerous commercially supported
standards including IEEE 802.3 Ethernet, Peripheral Component Interface (PCI),
PCI Mezzanine Card (PMC) per IEEE 1386 and POSIX. Compliance with these standards
provides a path for future technology upgrades and allows integration of third-party
hardware and software.
DESCRIPTION
Liquid Crystal Display The CDU-7000 utilizes the same high-quality AMLCD in Collins’ MFD-255
primary flight display instrument. The display provides a resolution of 170
elements per inch and has a dark ambient contract ratio or more than 150:1.
The wide viewing angle provides suburb readability from almost any location
in the cockpit. Embedded Multi-Purpose Processor The CDU-7000 contains a PowerPC 750Cxe / PowerPC 7448 processor card.
A high-integrity POSIX-compliant operating system allows multiple applications
of varying criticality levels to be hosted on the processor. The robust partitioning
implementation fully complies with civil certification standards including
RTCA DO-178B. Ethernet Node The Ethernet node works in conjunction with the Collins Digital Switch
Module (DSM-7020) or Processor Switch Module (PSM-8600) to provide ARINC 664-compliant
data flow control. The Ethernet node has a dedicated processing element to
handle local area network (LAN) communications and, as such, does not impinge
upon the processing capacity of the multi-purpose processor. Product Features
