RT-1939(C)/ARC ARC-210 Generation 5 (Gen5)
The Rockwell Collins RT-1939(C) (ARC-210, Generation 5) is the most
advanced Receiver-Transmitter (RT) in our proven ARC-210 communication system
family. The RT-1939(C) has been designed to better meet warfighter needs and
conform to Software Defined Radio (SDR) tenets and architectures. Versatility
is key in today’s battle space and the RT-1939(C) adapts
by providing superior performance in the transfer of networked or point-to-point
data, voice and imagery. In response to the world’s
constantly evolving transmission and communication security needs and to comply
with the National Security Agency’s (NSA) Cryptographic
Modernization Initiative, the RT-1939(C) is the first military airborne transceiver
to provide an embedded, fully programmable INFOSEC capability in an open architecture
SDR design. The embedded cryptographic subsystem (CSS) uses the National
Security Agency (NSA) approved Janus multi-chip module (MCM). The CSS will
provide secure communications using today’s cryptographic
equipment algorithms (CEAs) and will accommodate future growth for modern
CEAs. The RT-1939(C) is a SDR radio whose software Multi-Waveform Architecture
(MWA) provides the capability to port both ARC-210 Warrior waveform code baselines
and new waveforms that have been designed to be compliant with Software Communications
Architecture (SCA). The Rockwell Collins MWA approach to supporting SCA waveforms
is to use an optimized version of the components that make up an SCA execution
environment. The RT-1939(C) shall incorporate the form, fit, and functionality that
currently resides in the RT-1851A(C) and shall maintain the same external
I/O interface to the maximum extent possible. The most critical requirement
for the RT-1939(C) (Gen5) is to be backwards compatible with all fielded embedded
COMSEC radios, RT-1794(C), RT-1824(C), RT-1851(C), and RT-1851A(C). This
is accomplished by maintaining the same standard input/output (I/O) interfaces
for the connectors, which will result in a drop-in replacement for current
capability. The RT-1939(C) will include new capabilities of 1) MIL-STD-188-220D capability
for basic networking capability, 2) enhanced SINCGARS Improvement Program
(ESIP), 3) SATURN, and 4) increased frequency coverage of 30 - 961
MHz. The guard receiver performance has been expanded to be tunable over
the 30 - 512 MHz frequency range and allow for full
duplex operations. Additionally, the RT-1939(C) will have the ability to
host the Joint Precision Approach and Landing System (JPALS) airborne UHF
data link functionality. RT-1939(C) will provide a growth path for increased
networking capability via UHF Follow-on (UFO) satellite communications (SATCOM)
Integrated Waveform (IW), Mobile User Objective System (MUOS), Soldier Radio
Waveform (SRW), and Integrated Broadcast system (IBS).
VDL-2000
The VDL-2000 is a ruggedized, low cost VHF data link transceiver designed
to meet the military requirement for civil aviation interoperability. It is
a fully functional air traffic control radio, providing both VHF voice and
mode 2 data link capability in a compact module. Initial implementation will

R/T MOUNTS
There are three Electrical Equipment Mounting Bases that can be used
to mount the V/UHF Receiver Transmitters. Selection of the mount will depend
on the desirable space, isolation or operational profiles to be met.
MT-4935/ARC Isolated Mount
The MT-4935/ARC Electrical Equipment Mounting Base is the standard fixed
wing aircraft mounting base for any V/UHF Radio products. The MT-4935/ARC
is an isolated mount and provides vibration dampening between the radio and
the host platform.
MT-6567/ARC
In situations where space becomes a limiting factor or a rotary wing
aircraft is used, the MT-6567/ARC Electrical Equipment Mounting Base is recommended.
The MT-6567/ARC is a hard-mounted equipment base that can be used as a low-profile
mounting base.
994M-4/4A Link-11 Mount
The Electrical Equipment Mounting Base 994M-4/4A provides the required
Link-11 audio interface with any V/UHF Radio products. The 994M-4 is the
low-profile version and the 994M-4A is the isolated variant.

CS-2000 Cooling Shroud
The CS-2000 Cooling Shroud is designed for applications requiring 100
% duty cycle (continuous transmit at half or full power RF output). The fan
at the rear of the shroud pulls ambient air around the radio, allowing any
ARC-210 to transmit in SATCOM mode continuously at ambient temperatures up
to +71 degrees C, or LOS mode continuously at ambient temperatures up to +55
degrees C. Each cooling shroud contains works in conjunction with an MT-6567/ARC
low profile mount and is powered by +28 VDC. The unit has EMI suppression circuitry
ensuring its applicability to any platform.

Antennas
Note(s): For lower frequency applications (30 to 88 MHz), tunable antenna
systems are recommended. Antenna converter CV-4092/A must be used with Chelton
tunable antennas. HR Smith antenna converter 10-562-11 must be used with their
tunable antenna 10-150-08-M. Antenna converter 7-163 PIN 160 must be used
with the Chelton 512 MHz tunable antennas.

Chelton CV-4092A Click to Enlarge | The CV-4092/A Digital Logical Converter provides
frequency tuning information for the Chelton tunable antennas. As the radio
is tuned, it generates a digital output indicating which band to tune the
antenna. As supplied by the radio, the digital frequency information is unusable
by the antenna, therefore the CV-4092/A changes the serial digital output
into parallel antenna drive codes. |
Daico 100D0988A Two Port Antenna Selector
The Daico Two Port Antenna Selector connects a radio to two antennas,
usually upper and lower. The auto mode cycles between the upper and lower
antenna until a signal is received. The fail-safe mode connects the radio
to the lower antenna in the event of a power loss to the selector. A BIT port
is available for functionality test in the aircraft.
DL-8171 Data Loader
The primary components of the Rockwell Collins DL-8171 are two software
packages and a Hand-Held Data Device (HHD). The VHF/UHF Data Manager (VUDM)
installs on a Personal Computer (PC) or Laptop PC for the creation of files
with radio preset and ECCM data. The data file created with VUDM is then transferred
to the HHD. The HHD can be taken to a remote location or platform and the
data file can be transferred to the radio via the HDD software installed on
the PPC. The HDD can transfer data to a radio through an RS-232, DS-101 or DS-102
fill port and can also import ECCM data from a DS-102 device and export it
via a DS-101, DS-102 or RS-232 bus. The HDD is capable of accepting and storing
multiple data fill files thus allowing differing data files to be loaded into
target radios through address selection.
