OVERVIEW
The Rockwell Collins 6x6 Flat Panel Multi Purpose Display (FPMPD) is
the newest addition to the Rockwell Collins cockpit display product line.
The initial application for this full color, NVIS compatible display product
is on the F-15K, where it replaces the existing 6" CRT monochrome displays.
The 6x6 FPMPD uses a military avionics color capable AMCLD. It provides a
sunlight readable, high resolution display with excellent contrast and uniformity.
It is designed to provide the pilot optimal performance when used to display
critical mission and situational awareness information including digital map,
FLIR Sensor imagery, and other tactical or navigation information. One of
the key features and operational benefits of this display is its high quality
stroke to raster conversion in all modes of operation. The 6x6 FPMPD incorporates a modular, open design architecture making
it easily adaptable to other aircraft platforms undergoing retrofit/ modernization.
A video and stroke processor converts RGB video and analog stroke inputs to
digital formats to the AMLCD. This feature allows the display to be directly
compatible with legacy analog display processors configured to drive raster
stroke CRT displays with no aircraft modifications needed. This video and
stroke processor is easily removed for applications requiring a digital interface.
