OVERVIEW
The MIL-STD-1553B Multiplex Data Bus is a controlled impedance network.
Because of this, it is essential that all connections to the bus be properly
matched and terminated. In a variety of applications worldwide, and in all
the equipment integrations/installations for which Rockwell Collins has been
responsible, the 444F-series of bus interface hardware has proven itself.
DESCRIPTION
The 444F-6 is a multiplex data bus coupler. It consists of a transformer
coupling network, which provides the capability to connect up to three bus-interfaced
units. It provides two 3-lug BNC connectors for connection to the 70-ohm 1553
bus. It also provides three 2-lug BNC connectors for stub connections to the
equipment. The 444F-4 and 444F-7 are 75-ohm and 2-kilohm stub terminators. Any unused connections
to the 1553 bus connectors on 444F-6 Jl or J2 should be terminated with 444F-4.
Any unused stub connectors J3, J4, or J5 of 444F-6 should be terminated with
a 444F-7.
