OVERVIEW
The Rockwell Collins Armament System Processor Panel is a powerful,
low-cost, weapons management unit. The 253W-1 is MIL-STD-1553B multiplex data
bus compatible and contains all the processing power, memory, and input/output
required to handle most weapons management requirements. The front panel of
the 253W-1 incorporates the Master Arm Power and Emergency Override control
functions. The ASPP is easy to install and utilizes a modular design for easy maintenance.
All these features are packaged in a 3-inch high
(76.2 mm) by 6.5-inch deep
(165. mm) Dzus mounted panel designed
in accordance with MS25212 for panel-mounted equipment.
DESCRIPTION
The standard configuration of the ASPP is capable of managing weapons
platforms with up to eight weapon stations. In conjunction with pylon interface
units, the ASPP provides trigger and master arm power routing, fire control,
safety monitoring, and stores management functions. The ASPP hardware design is modular, separated into processor/memory,
input/ output, and weapon control functions. Each module is designed with
built-in growth capability. The processor/memory module is designed around a processor which operates
at 12 MHz. This module contains 64KB of Random Access Memory (RAM) and 128B of Nonvolatile Memory (EEPROM). The ASPP
can be operated with the standard operational software, or unique mission
software may be downloaded onto it via the MIL-STD-1553B data bus. This feature,
utilizing MIL-STD-2217, provides an easy means of field software maintenance. The input/output module contains 16 low-current output drivers to control
relays in the weapon control module, as well as discrete control for weapon
system functions such as remote LRU power control and cockpit SAFE/ARM annunciation
lamps. Also provided are 48 input receivers, which can be used for reading
weapon pylon configuration, for safety monitoring of ASPP arm and trigger
inputs and outputs, and for stick mounted control of the weapon system. The weapons control module contains the switching relays which distribute
high current arm and trigger power to the guns, rockets, and missiles. This
module uses hardware interlocks, all hard contact switching, and extensive
input/output monitoring to safely manage all weapons that interface with the
ASPP. This relay complement can easily be modified to meet specific interface
requirements. Existing weapons interfaces include:
