KEY OWNER/USER BENEFITS Extends life of aircraft Positions aircraft to meet current and future regulatory mandates Improves overall situational awareness Increases aircraft performance Reduces cost of ownership Eliminates dependence on obsolete technologies
OVERVIEW
Providing advanced avionics capabilities for current-technology flight
decks, Collins Pro Line 21 Retrofit addresses changing airspace demands while
enhancing system performance and life cycle cost. It takes advantage of new
capabilities, including advanced display technologies, solid-state geophysical
sensors, all digital CNS, integrated FMS and a flexible architecture to provide
the bandwidth required to meet current and future operational and performance
requirements. With built-in versatility, Pro Line 21 Retrofit allows operators to
select the level of capabilities desired while maximizing life cycle cost
improvements. The system may be applied in a number of flight deck configurations,
allowing operators to choose between integrated systems or individual products.
DESCRIPTION
Collins Pro Line 21 Retrofit offers advanced capabilities providing
proactive decision tools, including: Data communications Up-linked graphical weather 3-D flight plan maps Overlays to normal navigation maps / geopolitical airways
and airspace Approach and airport charts and associated textual charts The system also supports such future functionality as enhanced electronic
charting, mapping and improved terrain awareness, further increasing crew
efficiency and situational awareness. New capabilities are managed through
user-friendly on-screen menus that simplify human-machine interface and reduce
installation complexity. Possible system applications include Adaptive Flight Displays (AFDs),
Flight Management Systems (FMSs), automatic Flight Control Systems (FCSs),
Maintenance/Diagnostics Systems (MDSs) and advanced processors. The AFDs incorporate
Active Matrix Liquid Crystal Display (AMLCD) technology and is available in
the 8 x 10-inch size. Installation ranges from one to four displays, depending
on aircraft configuration and operational requirements. Available products
include the AFD-3010, FMS-3000/5000/6000, AHS-3000 Attitude Heading Reference
System, ADS-87A Air Data System, TCAS II Traffic Alert and Collision Avoidance
System, Doppler™ Weather Radar and Collins Pro Line CNS sensors. Pro Line 21 Retrofit is also designed for growth. As future Communication,
Navigation, Surveillance/Air Traffic Management (CNS/ATM) requirements are
enacted, the system will support new operational capabilities, including: Basic Area Navigation (BRNAV) Primary Navigation (PRNAV) Reduced Vertical Separation Minimum (RVSM) Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) Controller-Pilot Data Link Communications (CPDLC) Aeronautical Telecommunications Network (ATN) Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) Local Area Augmentation System (LAAS) Required Time of Arrival (RTA) Localizer Performance with Vertical Guidance (LPV) To simplify the addition of new capabilities, Collins Pro Line 21 Retrofit
can accommodate future changes through on-aircraft software downloads, reducing
the need for major flight deck or architecture modification. Operators of
Collins Pro Line 4-equipped aircraft will also be able to cost-effectively
upgrade to these new capabilities.
TYPICAL SYSTEM
Pro Line 21 Retrofit can be configured to the requirements of nearly
any aircraft, from twin-engine turboprop aircraft through widebody jets, depending
on aircraft requirements. System configuration is aircraft specific. Please
contact Rockwell Collins to discuss specific requirements.
