Bulkhead Displays:

The Rockwell Collins wall-mount LCD displays are among the best in the industry and provide excellent image quality. Incorporating innovative Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) capability, optical contrast enhancement technology, with an index matched anti-reflective optical filter, the readability and image quality of the display is evident through the widest range of lighting conditions.

Because of Rockwell Collins ultra-thin shroud size, these displays provide unobtrusive, seamless integration into the smallest of aircraft spaces while providing easy access for scheduled maintenance activities. Rockwell Collins’ LCD product line is among the lightest available and consumes less power than a typical home appliance light bulb.

Rockwell Collins offers a complete family of bulkhead displays that provide outstanding image quality for cabin video applications. Three sizes are available to suit any cabin installation requirement: 15-inch, 17-inch and 21.3-inch. All three models feature high brightness backlights and anti-reflective coating to enhance image quality and readability in the high ambient light conditions typically found in an aircraft cabin. Displays are available as standalone, 1394 direct connect or as dual DVI displays.

Bulkhead displays with the 1394-Direct Connection have been designed for use with the Rockwell Collins digital CMS and meet all applicable DO-160D requirements. The display receives the 1394A Data Stream, then decompresses and decodes the MPEG2 Video Stream, for direct display on the LCD display.

The standalone displays may be used with Rockwell Collins’ CMS-1. The display receives the analog video signal from the Audio/Video distributor, for display on the video screen. In the analog domain the displays support various input formats including composite (NTSC, PAL, SECAM), component, S-Video and analog RGB.

The dual DVI displays are compliant with the DVI specification including HDCP encryption/decoding allowing the display to be HDMI capable (no audio). It is also MDSB capable for software downloads and easy display configuration.

The displays can accept QVGA (320 x 240), VGA (640 x 480), SVGA (800 x 600), XGA (1,024 x 768) video signals through a RGB connection at a refresh rate of up to 85 Hz, SXGA (1,280 x 1,024) video signals at a refresh rate of up to 75 Hz. In addition, the 21.3-inch display can accept UXGA (1600 x 1200) video signals at a refresh rate of up to 60 Hz.

The displays can also be used as standalone displays with external computers (PC). A PC compatible connection is provided for VGA analog signal input. A wire harness can be fabricated to provide the user with a standard 15-pin high density D-Sub connection for personal computer video connection.

All Rockwell Collins bulkhead displays include built-in RF receiver circuitry used for picture adjustment and display configuration. The display accepts remote control signals from a hand held (RF) remote control unit. This allows the user to remotely select input video source, as well as other display settings. All settings are stored in the non-volatile memory.

The displays are wall mountable units designed for installation in General Aviation aircraft applications
