OVERVIEW
The Airshow 4000 offers a whole new dimension of in-flight information
with dynamic media that keeps pace with air travelers wherever they fly.
Real-time flight information and moving maps - along
with up-to-the-minute news, financials, sports and weather data - are
displayed in a rich, multimedia environment. And a simple, yet powerful,
interface offers unprecedented clarity and control. Compatible with virtually any legacy cabin management system, Airshow
4000 makes it easier than ever for aircraft passengers to remain connected
to the world below.
DESCRIPTION
Airshow 4000 is capable of supporting various multimedia applications,
video, audio, text and graphics for display on the aircrafts
cabin and flight deck monitors. In the cabin, real-time flight information
is obtained from the aircrafts long range navigation
and air data systems. This information is processed and the appropriate maps,
points-of-interest and flight information pages are displayed during flight.
New maps, such as underwater ocean terrain views, have been added. The systems
place-name database is richer and more complete than ever. The Airshow 4000 also keeps passengers informed of whats
happening while they fly. Up-to-the-minute information includes content from
BBC, Bloomberg, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, Sports Ticker and Intellicast.
This content can be regularly updated while in-flight so that business travelers
are never out of touch. The Airshow 4000 is supported by the Airshow Member Services Center
(MSC) in Tustin, CA. The MSC was created to be the hub of the Airshow 4000s
online data operations, supporting multiple real-time data feeds. Currently,
the MSC receives almost 20,000 requests for data uplinks per month from aircraft
around the world. As the number of users grows, the MSC is completely scalable
to manage ever more capacity. Airshow 4000 was designed as the replacement for the Airshow Network.
To minimize installation issues, it is the same size and shape as the Airshow
Network. A new tray with an ARINC 600 connector is required. No new aircraft
wiring is required for backward compatibility. Interfaces such as dual-channel
audio and a USB mouse interface are available with additional wiring. Hardware incorporated into the Airshow 4000 includes a 40GB ruggedized
hard drive, a Intel Centrino 915GM processor - which
provide the rich, multimedia graphics. In addition, a host of input ports
are available on the Airshow 4000 to make it easy to run diagnostics and system
checks, as well as to load new software. Two independent video streams allow
information to be displayed in the main cabin and on the flight deck or in
a separate zone within the cabin. In addition, pilots can control the system using a Flight Deck Controller.
This allows city pairs to be entered so that the system can plan destination
information and retrieve real-time data about the flight. The pilot can also
activate audio briefings and access real-time satellite weather for any route. Optional software items include the following:
OPTIONAL PERIPHERALS Flight Deck Controller (FDC) The FDC is mounted by DZUS standard single width fasteners and is used
to monitor and change various customer-requested features, including; Time
to destination; Greenwich Mean Time; destination airport; mode display; graphic
display (multiple logos); and languages. The FDC is also the device used to
control audio briefings. When ground speed reaches 100 knots, the FDC automatically
begins to count down the time to destination and displays the time remaining
on the Airshow 400 Info Page. Digital Cockpit Controller (DCC) The DCC provides the same functions as the FDC but in a different form
factor. It may be used in place of the FDC.
